Police in Western Uusimaa have detained one student in connection with a Thursday morning school threat.
Officers were alerted around 10:00 when staff at Järnefelt primary school in Lohja let them know they had received a threat.
Police say that while they can’t reveal the exact type of threat, it was credible enough that the had to take it seriously.
When officers arrived on the scene they stopped people leaving the building, but did not evacuate pupils.
“This was a threatening message related to the school, which was investigated by the police in cooperation with the school staff. The sender of the message is one of the school’s pupils and is in police custody, says Ilkka Kantola from Western Uusimaa Police.
Police say the security alert was over quite quickly, and the all-clear given a couple of hours later although a plain-clothed officer stayed at the scene.
